Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro for Full-Time Programmes leading to the award of Higher National Diploma (HND) qualification for programmes in the following schools:
1.1 SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Department: Office Technology and Management (Secretarial Studies)
1.2 SCHOOL OF PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCE: Departments: Computer Science, Food
Technology, Hospitality Management (Hotel and Catering Management), Statistics and Science
Laboratory Technology with options in: (Chemistry, Physics with Electronics, Environmental
Biology, Microbiology and Biochemistry)
1.3 SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES: Departments: Accountancy, Banking and Finance,

1.4 SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING: Departments: Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering,
Electrical/Electronics Engineering with options in: (i) Electrical Power and Machines,

Mechanical Engineering with options in: (i) Plant and Power Engineering Technology, (ii)

2.0 HND (FULL TIME) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants seeking HND (Full Time) Admission must possess:
2.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
(i) National Diploma not below Lower Credit (with CGPA not less than 2.50) and basic
requirements for the National Diploma Programme in the applicant’s discipline;
(ii) minimum of One Calendar year Post National Diploma relevant Industrial Experience;
(iii) candidate’s National Diploma academic transcripts should be sent by the ND awarding institution
under confidential cover to: The Registrar, The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
ADMITTED CANDIDATES SHALL NOT BE REGISTERED BEFORE RECEIPT OF ND ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT;
(iv) good performance in the screening exercise to be conducted by the Polytechnic;
(v) possession of the specific SSC requirements (Minimum of five credits obtained in relevant subjects
at not more than two sittings) i.e. WAEC/NECO/NABTEB/GCE O’level for the course for which
the candidate is applying. The SSC requirements must have been obtained prior to the candidate’s
admission for the National Diploma that is the basis for the HND admission.
NB. ALL CANDIDATES ARE EXPECTED TO UPLOAD CLEAR AND READABLE COPIES OF
THEIR CREDENTIALS. CANDIDATES WHOSE UPLOADED CREDENTIALS ARE NOT EASILY
READABLE WOULD FORFEIT THEIR ADMISSION.

4.0 NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) PART-TIME PROGRAMMES 2018/2019 SESSION
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro for Part-Time Programmes leading to the award of National Diploma (ND) qualification for programmes in the following schools:
4.1 SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Departments: Office Technology and Management (Secretarial Studies) and Mass Communication
4.2 SCHOOL OF PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES:
Departments: Computer Science and Science Laboratory Technology.
4.3 SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES:
Departments: Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Business Administration & Management, Insurance, Marketing and Public Administration.
4.4 SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING:
Departments: Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Duration of all programmes: 4 Semesters
5.0 ND (PART- TIME) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
5.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
(i) Minimum of five credits obtained in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.
(ii) Candidates awaiting the results of just concluded examinations can apply but if admitted, they
must tender such results before the deadline for the close of registration for new students of
2018/2019 Session
6.0 REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
All HND (Full-Time) and ND (Part-Time) candidates are required to bring the following to the examination centre:
(i) 2 copies of printouts of the acknowledgement and examination slips.
(ii) Biro for filling attendance sheet
7.0 METHOD OF APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
Candidates seeking admission into the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro are required to complete the Institution’s
Application Form available online at: www.federalpolyilaro.edu.ng/portal or
applications.federalpolyilaro.edu.ng/applicant with effect from May 9, 2018
7.1 GENERAL INFORMATION FOR HND FULL-TIME AND ND PART-TIME PROGRAMMES
All candidates are expected to consult the institution’s prospectus on the website or in hard copy to
ascertain their qualification for courses for which they are applying. Candidates should not register for
courses for which they do not have the requirements. The admission of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro is
provisional; ANYTIME it is discovered that a candidate registered for a programme for which he/she is
not qualified or a candidate is in violation of any of the procedures and rules thereof, the admission
would be withdrawn.

* On the portal, click on Applicant, then click on Generate Invoice.
* Take the invoice to any of the designated banks for payment
* Return to the portal, click on Applicant, then click fill application form and fill the form following
On-screen instructions. The invoice and RRR must be obtained in the name of the applicant; the invoice must be generated from the Portal. The Invoice contains the RRR to be processed. The institution shall not be liable for complications that may arise when RRR is generated and payment is processed without going through her Portal. 8.0 ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (ND PART - TIME)
Entrance examination dates for ND (Part-Time) Programmes will be announced later on the institution’s website.
Venue for all entrance examinations is the Polytechnic ICT Unit, West Campus.
Time: 10.00 a.m. each day.
N.B. ALL ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS ARE COMPUTER BASED.
